The Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla has a beautiful and sprawling campus spread over 200 acres. The university is situated in beautiful surrounding which present a panoramic view of snow peaked mountains, rhododendron, silver oak, pine and deodar trees. Today Himachal Pradesh University has attained a respectable position among a large section of Indian population. The university offers dozens of study-disciplines to choose from.

H.P. University Guest House was inaugurated on 29-09-1975. The Guest House has 27 suites. Of them one is VIP suite. There is also a dormitory for the staff accompanying guests. It can accommodate six persons. The rent is charged Rs. 10/- for official purpose and Rs. 20/- for Non-Official purpose. The Room rent per bed is Rs. 20/- for official visit (other than teacher) and Rs. 50/- per bed from the teacher and Rs. 20/- per bed from the Principal. For un-official visit of relatives of employees/teachers Rs. 100/- and others, Rs. 150/- per bed is charged. The dormitory can accommodate six persons. The ren for the dormitory is Rs. 10 for the official purpose and Rs. 20 for non official purpose.

The University has a Public Relation Office especially to share informations with the public. The flow of informations from various sections, branches, departments, institutions etc. of the University is mainly in the shape of advertisements, press notes-releases and developmental features and articles. This office maintains a liaison with the higher authorities about various activities and achievements of the university at the main campus. This office works towards projecting and promoting University's image and achievements in the media. The department compiles and collates clippings related to the University on educational field.

The University Library is housed in its won multistoreyed building specially desinged to house various functions of a modern University Library. The Library building has adequate space to accommodate more than 2 lacs of volumes in stace-hall, about 450 readers in reading halls and about 100 Research Scholars in Cubicles on Different floors. The basement on its compietion will also provide space for a Museum, and Exhibition Room, bindery, Repographic Unit and Private Reading Room.

The Library has been organised into different reader services viz Main Lending Section, Text Books Section, General Reference Section and a Periodical publications Section in the subject field of Humanities, Social Sciences & border line disciplines and three Sectional Libraties in the subject fields of physical and Biological Sciences, Law and Education. Besides a separate Maps, Dissertations and Thesis, careers and Courses, Bibliographies, Microdocuments and moral and Spiritual Studies are in the process of being set up.
