Admission Through Competitive Tests :-

M.C.A., D.C.A., M.Sc. (Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Physics, Physics (Electronic Science) and Mathematics), LL.B. (Day), LL.B. (Evening under Self-Financing Scheme), B. Ed., B.J.M.C.M.A. (Phy. Edu) Diploma in H.R.D.

 
Admission on the Basis of Marks in Qualifying Examination :-

M. A. (English, Hindi, Translation, Sanskrit, Music, Economics, Business Economics, Sociology, Geography, History, Political Science, Psychology, Public Administration, Physical Education, Painting), M. Com., M.Ed., LL. M. M.Phill (including Sciences courses)and Diplomas in Foreign Languages (French, German, Russian), Buddhist Studies, Yoga Studies, DAT, Guidance Counselling, Tribal Studies and Population Studies. Admission to these courses is made on merit as worked out on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination + marks obtained in the subject of studied at the Graduation level. Generally admission to these courses is made in the months of June-July every year.

Faculty of Ayurveda Go Top
 
a) B.A.M.S. :
 
Minimum Qualification : 75% seats are meant for bonafide residents/domicles of Himachal Pradesh. 10% seats for children of Central Government /Central Government Public Sector undertaking employees posted in Himachal Pradesh and of Himachal Pradesh Government/Himachal PRadesh Government Public Sector Undertaking employees, who are bonafide residents of Himachal Pradesh having schooling of 10+2 within Himachal Pradesh, and remaining seats are open for other as may be provided in the prospectus from time to time.
One must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology with 50% marks in Science subjects in aggregate (40% for SC/ST) and also passed English as an elective subject, with more details as may be provided in the prospectus.
 
b) MD/MS Ayurveda :
 
Minimum Qualification : Seats are available for Himachal PRadesh Government in-service Ayurveda Officers and Ayurveda Graduates of Himachal PRadesh University with reservations for SC/ST/OBC candidates, besides All India quota also. For detailes latest prospectus be referred to.
The admission to these courses will be on the basis of competitive examination (written test) to be conducted by the University.
 
 

Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies Go Top
 
a) B.B.A. :
 
Minimum Qualification : +2 examination under 10+2 system of examination or examination equivalent thereto of a Board/Universitry established by Law in India with 50% marks (45% marks in case of SC/ST candidates).
The admission to these courses will be on the basis of competitive examination (written test) to be conducted by the University.
 
b) P.G. Diploma in E. Commerce :
 
Minimum Qualification : Bachelor's degree of a University established by law in India or equivalent examination in any discipline with 50% marks (45% in case of SC/ST).
The admission to these courses will be on the basis of competitive examination (written test) to be conducted by the University.
 
c) M.Com :
 
Minimum Qualification : B.Com/B.Com (Hons) or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or B.A. with commerce or M.A./M.Sc. in Economics/Statistics/Mathematics with 50% marks. or B.A./B.Sc. degree with Economics/Statistics/Mathematics with 50% marks in Economics/ Statistics/ Mathematics and 50% marks in agregate.
The admissions are made strictly on merit drawn on the bais of qualifying examination in accordance with rules framed by the University in this regard. In case of a student sent on scholarship by a foreign Govt. or a State Govt. other than the Govt. of H.P. the only test of merit shall be minimum qualifications prescribed for admission to the course of study
 
d) M.B.A/M.I.B.M./M.P.M./M.F.C./M.T.A. :
 
Minimum Qualification : Any first Bachelor's degree of a University established by Law in India or equivalent examination in any discipline with at least 50% marks (45% in case of SC/ST).
 

Faculty of Dental Sciences Go Top
 
a) BDS :
 
Minimum Qualification : Bonafide or domicile Himachali having passed two examinations out of middle, matric and 10+2 from schools located within Himachal Pradesh with some exceptions for which the prospectus be referred to with the condition of 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology with 50% marks in aggregate (40% in case of SC/ST) and having also passed English as a elective subject.
The admission to this course will be on the basis of competitive examination (written test) to be conducted by the University.
 

Faculty of Education Go Top
 
a) B.Ed. :
 
Minimum Qualification : Bachelor's degree (Non-medical/Medical/Arts) with at least 45% marks (40% in case of SC/ST) from a University established by Law in India.
The admission to this course in the Department and the affiliated colleges will be on the basis of competitive examination (written test) to be conducted by the University, and in the case of correspondance courses the criteria will be as indicated below under ICDEOL
 
b) P.G. Diploma in Adult Education :
 
Minimum Qualification : Master's degree in any subject from a recognised University or equivalent with at least 40% marks in the aggregate.
 
c) P.G. Diploma in Guidance and Counselling :
 
Minimum Qualification : M.A. (Education) or M.Ed. or M.A. (Psychology) with at least 40% marks in aggregate.
 
d) M.Ed. :
 
Minimum Qualification : B.Ed. degree of a University established by Law in India with aggregate of 50% both in theory and practice of teaching

or

Degree of a foreign University which may be recognised as equivalent.
The admissions are made strictly on merit drawn on the bais of qualifying examination in accordance with rules framed by the University in this regard. In case of a student sent on scholarship by a foreign Govt. or a State Govt. other than the Govt. of H.P. the only test of merit shall be minimum qualifications prescribed for admission to the course of study.
 

Faculty of Engineering and Technology Go Top
 
a) B.Tech. :
 
Minimum Qualification : The minimum qualification for admission to the first year of B.Tech course shall be that the candidate should have passed 10+2 Science standard (Non-medical) of Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education/Pre-Engineering or B.Sc. Part-I (Old scheme) examination of Himachal Pradesh University or its equivalent.
The admission to this course will be on the basis of competitive examination (written test).
 

Faculty of Law Go Top
 
a) LL.B. :
 
Minimum Qualification : Bachelor's degree or Master's degree of any faculty of a University established by Law in India with at least 40% marks.
The admission to these courses will be on the basis of competitive examination (written test) to be conducted by the University.
 
b) LL.M. :
 
Minimum Qualification : Consistently good academic record with at least 2nd class LL.B. degree with 50% marks (45% in case of SC/ST) or an equivalent degree of a foreign University.
The admissions are made strictly on merit drawn on the bais of qualifying examination in accordance with rules framed by the University in this regard. In case of a student sent on scholarship by a foreign Govt. or a State Govt. other than the Govt. of H.P. the only test of merit shall be minimum qualifications prescribed for admission to the course of study
 

Faculty of Life Sciences Go Top
 
a) Bio-Technology :
 
Minimum Qualification : Bachelor's degree of a University established by Law in India (with the subject of study in M.Sc. as one of the subject) in 2nd division or with at least 45% marks (40% in case of SC/ST) or Honours in the subject concerned.
The admission to these courses will be on the basis of competitive examination (written test) to be conducted by Jawahar Lal Nehru University, on All India Basis.
 
b) B.Sc. Microbiology :
 
Minimum Qualification : B.Sc. of a University, established by Law in India with either Botany, Zoology and Chemistry or Physics, Chemistry or Physics, Chemstry and Mathematics or B.Sc. with any of these two science subjects plus two year's laboratory experience in a microbiology laboratory recognised by the University.
 
c) M.Sc. Botany/Zoology :
 
Minimum Qualification : Bachelor's degree of a University established by Law in India (with the subject of study in M.Sc. as one of the subject) in 2nd division or with at least 45% marks (40% in case of SC/ST) or Honours in the subject concerned.
The admission to these courses will be on the basis of competitive examination (written test) to be conducted by the University.
 
d) M.Sc. Microbiology :
 
Minimum Qualification : B.Sc. Microbiology/MBBS/B.V.Sc. of a University, established by Law in India

or

M.Sc.in any of the Bio-Sciences subjects provided he/she has worked for at least one year in the Microbiological Department of a College affiliated to or maintained by a University established by Law in India or of a Research Institute maintained by the Central or State Government, or of any other Institute recognised by the Vice-Chancellor.
 
e) M.Phil :
 
Minimum Qualification : Hindi, Sanskrit, English, Music, Psychology, History, Political Science, Economics, Geography, Sociology, Public Administration, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Geology, Commerce, Botarny, Zoology
A candidate seeking admission to M.Phil course must have at least 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST) in the subject concerned at Masterr's level.
 

Faculty of Languages Go Top
 
a) Diploma in Bhoti :
 
Minimum Qualification : 10+2 or an equivalent examination from a recognised Board/University. The admissions are made strictly on merit drawn on the bais of qualifying examination in accordance with rules framed by the University in this regard. In case of a student sent on scholarship by a foreign Govt. or a State Govt. other than the Govt. of H.P. the only test of merit shall be minimum qualifications prescribed for admission to the course of study
 
b) M.A. Sanskrit/Hindi/English :
 
Minimum Qualification : B.A./B.Sc/B.Com/B.Sc. (Agri)/B.Sc. (Home Sc)/B.Sc. (Engg./MBBS/GAMS/ B. Pharma/B.T/ B.Ed/B.Lib. Sc/ B.L./ B.V. Sc/Vashishta Shashtri degree of University established by Law in India at least in second division or with 45% marks or Hons in the subject of his study for M.A.
 
c) M.A. Translation :
 
Minimum Qualification : Bachelor degree of University established by Law in India with at least 50% marks in English and Hindi as elective subjects.
Must have 50% marks at Master's level subject to the condition that he/she had studied Hindi as elective subject upto B.A. level.
 

Faculty of Medical Sciences Go Top
 
a) M.B.B.S. :
 
Minimum Qualification : Bonafide or domicile Himachali having passed two examinations out of middle, matric and 10+2 from schools located within Himachal Pradesh with some exceptions for which the prospectus be referred to with the condition of 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology with 50% marks in aggregate (40% in case of SC/ST) and having also passed English as a elective subject.
 
b) MD/MS/P.G. Diplomas :
 
Minimum Qualification : In-service regular appointed Medical Officers of Himachal Pradesh Health Service Cadre possessing a certain length of service and the Graduates of Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla and those children of bonafide or domicile Himachalies having got admission in MBBS through CBSE and passed the degree through other M.C.I. recognised medical colleges in India (in the case of direct quota seats) are eligible subject to fulfilment of the required conditions as may be provided in the prospectus.
The admission to these courses will be on the basis of competitive examination (written test) to be conducted by the University.
 

Faculty of Performing and Visual Arts Go Top
 
a) M.A. Music :
 
Minimum Qualification : B.A./B.Sc/B.Com/B.Sc. (Agri)/B.Sc. (Home Sc)/B.Sc. (Engg./MBBS/GAMS/ B. Pharma/B.T/ B.Ed/B.Lib. Sc/ B.L./ B.V. Sc/Vashishta Shashtri degree of University established by Law in India at least in second division or with 45% marks or Hons in the subject of his study for M.A.
 
b) M.A. Painting :
 
Minimum Qualification : 50% marks in aggregate or 45% marks in the subject (45% or 40% marks in case of SC/ST) in B.A./B.F.A.
The admissions are made strictly on merit drawn on the bais of qualifying examination in accordance with rules framed by the University in this regard. In case of a student sent on scholarship by a foreign Govt. or a State Govt. other than the Govt. of H.P. the only test of merit shall be minimum qualifications prescribed for admission to the course of study
 

Faculty of Physical Sciences Go Top
 
a) B.I.T. (Bachelor in Information Technology) :
 
Minimum Qualification : 10+2 examination or equivalent, with Physics, Mathematics and any one of the other elective subjects of a Board/University established by Law in India with 50% marks (45% marks in the case of SC/ST)
The admission to this course will be on the basis of competitive examination (written test) to be conducted by the University.
 
b) BCA :
 
Minimum Qualification : 10+2 examination or equivalent, with Physics, Mathematics and any one of the other elective subjects of a Board/University established by Law in India with 50% marks (45% marks in the case of SC/ST).
The admission to this course will be on the basis of competitive examination (written test) to be conducted by the University.
 
c) M.Sc. Physics/Physics (Electronic Science)/Chemistry/Mathematics/Geology :
 
Minimum Qualification : Bachelor's degree of a University established by Law in India (with the subject of study for M.Sc. as one of the subjects) in 2nd division or with at least 45% marks (40% in case of SC/ST candidates) or Honours in the subject concerned. In case of Physics the candidate must have passed B.Sc. with Mathematics at the graduate level
 
d) M.C.A./P.G. Diploma in Computer Application Course. :
 
Minimum Qualification : Bachelor's degree in any discipline with at least 50% marks (45% in case of SC/ST candidates) from a University established by Law in India, with at least one full paper or Mathematics at the graduate level.
 

Faculty of Social Sciences and Mass Communication Go Top
 
a) BJMC (Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication) :
 
Minimum Qualification : Bachelor's degree in any discipline with at least 50% marks in aggregate (45% in case of SC/ST) from a University established by Law in India.
The admission to this course will be on the basis of competitive examination (written test) to be conducted by the University.
 
b) MJMC (Master in Journalism and Mass Communication) :
 
Minimum Qualification : Bachelor in Journalism and Mass Communication or its equivalent qualification from a recognised University established by Law in India with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate (45% for SC/ST candidates).
The admissions are made strictly on merit drawn on the bais of qualifying examination in accordance with rules framed by the University in this regard. In case of a student sent on scholarship by a foreign Govt. or a State Govt. other than the Govt. of H.P. the only test of merit shall be minimum qualifications prescribed for admission to the course of study .
 
c) M.A. Psychology/History/Political Science/Economics/Business Economics/Geography/Sociology/Public Administration :
 
Minimum Qualification : B.A./B.Sc/B.Com/B.Sc. (Agri)/B.Sc. (Home Sc)/B.Sc. (Engg./MBBS/GAMS/ B. Pharma/B.T/ B.Ed/B.Lib. Sc/ B.L./ B.V. Sc/Vashishta Shashtri degree of University established by Law in India at least in second division or with 45% marks or Hons in the subject of his study for M.A.and candidate having Acharya/Vashishta Shashtri degree in Sanskrit will be eligible for admission to M.A. Sanskrit.
