The admissions of students to various programs are made strictly according to the provisions of the Academic Regulations of the university and amended from time to time taking into considerations the guidelines/norms prescribed by the state Government and the Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR). The admission of students to different programs are made according to the reservation of seats to different categories.

Admission to B.Sc. Horticulture (4 and 5 year) and B.Sc. Forestry (4 year) programs is done through an Objective Type Entrance Test. 85% seats in 4 year programs are reserved for domicile of Himachal Pradesh and are filled through Entrance Test conducted by the university. The remaining 15% seats are filled through nomination by ICAR on the basis of All India Entrance Test conducted by ICAR New Delhi. Over and above the intake capacity, few seats in 4 year programs are reserved for nominees of North East Council (NEC) and for NRI/NRI sponsored candidates/paid seats. In B.Sc. Horticulture 5 year program all seats are reserved for the domicile of Himachal Pradesh. |

Minimum Qualification : 10+2 or equivalent examination with English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Mathematics/ Agriculture of a recognized University/Board with minimum of 50% aggregate marks in the above subjects |

| b) B.Sc. Forestry Program (for UHF/HP Forest Department Nominees): |

Minimum Qualification : 10+1/equivalent examination or above with English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Mathematics/ Agriculture of a recognized University/Board with minimum of 55% aggregate marks in the above subjects. Such candidates are required to clear 10+2 level courses. |

| c) B.Sc. 5 year Horticulture program : |

|
Minimum Qualification : 10+2 examination with English and vocational courses in Horticulture/Food Preservation and Processing from HP Board of School Education with minimum of 50% aggregate marks in the above subjects. |

| Admission to the master's programs shall be on the basis of merit of the qualifying degree. 75% seats are reserved for domicile of Himachal Pradesh. The remaining 25% seats are filled through nomination by ICAR on the basis of All India Entrance Test conducted by ICAR New Delhi. The Academic Council may further approve admission to master's program in respect of the in service nominees of this university/ HP State Government/Autonomous bodies/ other state government. |

Admission to the M.B.A.(Agri-Business) shall be on the basis Written Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The written test will be conducted by the university which will assess the candidate's ability in verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, data interpretation, mathematical comprehension, English knowledge and comprehension. The weightage assigned to written test, group discussion and personal interview shall be 70%, 20% and 10% respectively. 75% seats are reserved for domicile of Himachal Pradesh. The remaining 25% seats are open to domicile of other states.Over and above these seats few seats are available for NRI/NRI sponsored/Nominees of Industry/Paid seats. |

Minimum Qualification :
B.Sc. (Horticulture)/ B.Sc. (Forestry)/B.Sc.(Agri.)/B.Sc./B.Sc.(Animal Husbandry)/B.Sc. (Home Science)/B.A./B.Com/B.E./Agricultural Engineering/B.B.A with an OCPA of 5.50/10.00 (2.40/4.00) or its equivalents under course credit system or with a minimum of 55% under annual system fro a recognized university or degree from a foreign university with at least 'B' grade or its equivalent recognized by the Academic Council. The student comming from the stream other than agriculture, horticulture, forestry and agricultural engineering will have to undertake a package of deficiency courses. |

Admission to the doctoral programs shall be on the basis of merit of the qualifying degree. 75% seats are reserved for domicile of Himachal Pradesh. The remaining 25% seats are filled on the basis of merit at National level by the University. The Academic Council may further approve admission to master's program in respect of the in service nominees of this university/ HP State Government/Autonomous bodies/ other state government. |

| a) Doctoral Program (Fruit Science, Fruit Breeding & Genetic Resources and Postharvest Technology) : |

Minimum Qualification :
M.Sc. degree with research thesis in partial fulfillment of the program in the concerned discipline from the recognized university with an OCPA of 6.50/10.00 or its equivalents under course credit system or at least 65% marks under annual system of examination .
First priority will be given to the students having specialization in the same discipline, however, if any seat remains vacant in any of these three disciplines, the candidates from other two disciplines shall be considered. |
| b) Doctoral Program (Tree Improvement & Genetic Resources, Forest products and Silviculture & Agroforestry) : |

Minimum Qualification :
First priority will be given to the students having specialization in the same discipline, however, if any seat remains vacant in any of these three disciplines, the candidates from other two disciplines shall be considered.
For forestry discipline candidates with A.I.F.C. diploma or M.Sc. Agroforestry having the above OCPA/Percentage will also be eligible
